Focus ST To Star At Goodwood

The Goodwood Festival of Speed has a special treat in store for Ford fans this year – the Focus ST, the firm’s first global performance car, is starring in blockbuster The Sweeney and will be previewing its role at the event.

Stunt drivers will take the place of Jack Regan and George Carter, the famous Flying Squad detectives, as their ST takes on a Jaguar XFR in the renowned Goodwood hillclimb. The exciting chase sequence is sure to whet the appetite of car enthusiasts and movie-goers alike ahead of the film’s September release. More information available at Peoples Ford blog.

Ford has sponsored the Goodwood Festival of Speed since 1993 when it first began, and will be supporting this year’s event over the weekend of 29th June-1st July. The festival is Europe’s leading historic motor sporting event and takes place in the grounds of the Earl if March’s ancestral home, Goodwood House.

The Ford Focus ST’s role in The Sweeney carries on the firm’s strong link with the TV series, which was established back in the 1970s. Ford Granada, Consul and Cortina models were all used by the Flying Squad detectives to make the streets of London safer. Director and co-writer of the new movie said, "It was important for me to collaborate with Ford on The Sweeney as their legacy with the original TV show is so strong – they're the perfect partner.  I like the Ford Focus ST so much, I want one!"

If the Focus ST’s performance against the Jaguar impresses you at Goodwood this year, you might be inspired to pick up one of your own from a dealer such as Peoples Ford.
